Yesterday I went to a blow-molding company. They make all kind of containers like shampoo bottles and jerry cans. Mostly made out of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE). They work with the same kind of molds as injection molding, advanced and expensive. But once you have it production goes fast! Quantities around 500 to 500.000 pieces. Around 1 out of 50 products is bad-produced, as well as the first 200 when warming up the machine. Most is shredded and immediately put back in the process mixed with new/clean material, the rest is waste. Again they don’t work with recycled plastic, the machines are to complex to adjust the settings and new plastic is a cheaper choice.
