Fimboo started as an NGO trying to create a positive impact on society. They managed to access some fundings and invest them to create Precious Plastic machines.
βOur vision is to create sustainable production facilities in economically struggling areas for innovative products that have an environmental and social impact.β (Well said! π)
They started to build the machines and do some testing a couple months ago in Uganda. The team brought most of the components from Europe and built the machines on site (Shredder and Injection machine). βItβs really hard to get local resources in Uganda with mould making as one of the most tedious parts.β
*The wooden frame and jerry can electronic box play perfectly in the Precious Plastic philosophy (looks badass π).
βOur first try of a grip in a concrete mould worked out pretty well. Also, we did not have so much trouble working with different types of plastic β but maybe we did something wrong.β
Fimboo aims to create local job opportunities by implementing precious plastic machines. They plan to sell local products with environmental impact in Europe and Uganda. By supporting local people to be self-reliant they are trying their best to reduce plastic waste on the planet. (So do we!)
β
They canβt wait to promote their skiing and hiking poles in a year. Besides skiing and hiking poles, Fimboo plans to use the machine to build bicycle parts. Their team is working on other products as well such as rulers and abacus for the local school.
βDonβt get scared off the seemingly complexity of melting temperatures with plastic. Just get started. Once you are started, you will figure out everything. Just make it hot and leave the plastic for a while in there. πβ
